ChromeOS Linux Terminal

On many ChromeOS devices, users can access a full Linux environment alongside ChromeOS through a feature that integrates Linux directly into the system. The Linux Terminal on ChromeOS provides a traditional command-line interface, similar to terminals found on standard Linux distributions. It allows users to run a wide range of Linux commands and utilities, install and manage software packages using the apt package manager, and develop and run Linux-based applications. This environment enables users to leverage the flexibility and power of Linux within the ChromeOS ecosystem, making it a versatile tool for developers, enthusiasts, and anyone comfortable with Linux-based systems. Accessing the Linux Terminal typically involves enabling Linux (Beta) in ChromeOS settings and then launching the Terminal app from the app drawer

The ChromeOS Terminal is not the same as the ChromeOS Shell (Crosh), which provides a limited subset of applications that are designed for advanced users to troubleshoot and manage their devices. If you are looking for the ChromeOS Shell, please visit our ChromeOS Shell Page.
