ChromeOS Omnibar

The ChromeOS Omnibar is a powerful tool that combines Google Search, Google Assistant and Global Search into a single input dialog that can be accessed by pressing the "Search" or "Everything Key". Alternatively, you can simply swipe up if you are using a device with a touchscreen. Once the omnibar appears, you can simply type your search queries, type the name of the file you are looking for or type a question to be answered by Google Assistant.

ChromeOS Application Launcher

The ChromeOS Application Launcher automatically indexes all applications on your device into one centralized location. The Application Launcher includes Chrome Applications, Web Applications, Android Applications and Linux Applications. You can access the Application Launcher by swiping up on the ChromeOS Omnibar via a touch screen or the touch pad. You can also click on the up arrow at the top of the ChromeOS Omnibar.

Creating Folders in the Application Launcher

You can group applications into folders within the application launcher to help you quickly find what you need. In order to create a folder, simply drag one icon that you wish to have in the folder onto another icon that you wish to have in the folder and ChromeOS will automatically create a folder containing the two applications. You can then drag other applications into the new folder as you wish.

Deleting Folders

If you wish to remove a folder from the Application Launcher, you just need to drag and drop all of the applications out of the folder and place it onto the main launcher. ChromeOS will automatically remove the folder.

Linux Applications

If you have enabled support for Linux on your device, any application that creates a Linux launcher file will automatically show up on your ChromeOS Application Launcher. Application Launcher icons are generally created when you install items from a package manager such as apt.

If you wish to create an application launcher manually for Self-Installed Binaries, FlatPack or AppImages, please refer to the ChromeOS Guide Section on Linux for further instructions
