Identifying ChromeOS Hardware

There are over 500 models of ChromeOS that have been released as of this writing, and at times it can be confusing to tell the difference between different models. We have constructed a massive catalog of ChromeOS devices with images to help users identify their devices; however, there are several devices that look identical to each other. This article will outline several alternative ways to identify your ChromeOS device to ensure that you are accessing the correct resources for your device.

Using the ChromeOS System URI

Open a new Chrome Browser Window and enter the following into the Chrome Address Bar (be careful that you do not enter this into the "Search" bar). It may take several seconds for the ChromeOS System Information page to render.

chrome://system/

Once the page renders, search for the row that starts with "platform_identity_model". This will contain the ChromeOS Board Name. Once you have the ChromeOS Board, enter this value into the search bar on the top of the ChromeOS.Guide website to find the product page and related documentation.

Using the ChromeOS Version URI

Although not as useful as the Device Model, there are several instances where you may need to locate the ChromeOS Board or Baseboard. This is often more useful for developers who wish to build custom builds of ChromiumOS. You can find this by entering the following into the Chrome Address Bar (be careful that you do not enter this into the "Search" bar).

chrome://version/

Once the page renders, you can locate the "Board", which is labeled as Customization ID and the "Base Board" will be located at the end of the Platform
