Migrating Your Hardware and Accessories

If you have purchased any hardware for your computer, you will likely be pleasantly surprised that most consumer grade hardware will work on ChromeOS without the need to install any proprietary software. This includes items such as printers, scanners, webcams and digital cameras. Select hardware such as programmable microcontrollers (such as an Arduino) and many 3D printers can be used within the ChromeOS Linux environment if your device was made after 2018.

External Storage Devices that are used on Windows, MacOS and Linux will also work on ChromeOS without issue as long as the drives are formatted as FAT16, FAT32, ExFAT or NTFS volumes.

Please refer to the dedicated ChromeOS Guide Accessories Section for specific instructions on using your existing accessories on ChromeOS.
