ChromeOS Stylus Tools

Many Chromebooks, Chromeblets and Chrome Convertibles support the use of active stylus input. Some machines include a stylus in the box, but others require the purchase of a stylus if you wish to take advantage of this form of input. There are several types of active stylus available for ChromeOS; Please refer to your device listing on the ChromeOS Guide Device Database to locate a compatible stylus for your device.

When ChromeOS detects a stylus, it will automatically activate a set of tools that are designed to help with using your stylus by exposing several shortcuts. The list of available tools includes:

  • Screen Capture - Easily capture select parts of the screen by using your stylus to draw a box around the area of the screen you wish to capture.
  • Laser Pointer - Turn your stylus into a virtual laser pointer to allow you to create a red dot on your screen without interacting with other applications on the screen. This is useful for using your device on video conferences or when sharing your screen with a group of people.
  • Magnifying Glass - The ChromeOS Magnifying Glass turns your stylus into a screen magnifier, which causes all elements on the screen to zoom when the stylus is on that portion of the display.

There is a settings menu that is located at the top of the Stylus Tools, which will take you to the Stylus Tool settings panel on the ChromeOS System Settings application.
