Introduction to Crostini (Linux Application Support)

Crostini is the codename for the Linux runtime environment that is available on ChromeOS which allows users to run native Linux applications. Crostini exposes a Linux container to users that runs a slightly modified build of Debian. Linux support on ChromeOS allows users to unleash the full power of their ChromeOS device for a potentially infinite number of other purposes including software development, debugging and even run games.

Throughout this guide, the term Crostini and Linux will be used interchangeably, along with additional context as needed.
