Enabling Developer Mode will:

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Back Up Your Data

    • Save all important files to Google Drive or external storage

  2. Enter Recovery Mode

    • Power down your ChromeOS tablet completely
    • Press and hold the Volume Up + Volume Down + Power buttons simultaneously
    • Continue holding until the recovery screen appears

  3. Enter Developer Mode

    • When the recovery screen appears, press Volume Up + Volume Down simultaneously
    • The screen will ask if you want to turn OS verification off
    • Press Volume Up to confirm
    • Wait while the system prepares for Developer Mode (this can take 15-20 minutes)

  4. Initial Boot Process

    • Once the preparation is complete, the tablet will restart
    • You'll see a screen warning that OS verification is OFF
    • Wait 30 seconds for the transition screen to pass, or
    • Press Volume Up + Volume Down simultaneously to bypass the warning

  5. Complete Setup

    • After the boot completes, you'll need to go through the initial setup again
    • Connect to Wi-Fi and sign in with your Google account
    • Developer Mode is now active

  6. Verify Developer Mode

    • Open Chrome browser
    • Connect a keyboard or use the on-screen keyboard
    • Press Ctrl + Alt + T (physical keyboard) or use the "Crosh Window" app from the launcher
    • Type "shell" and press Enter

Important Notes

  • Every time you restart your ChromeOS tablet, you'll see the OS verification warning

  • Pressing Power button at the warning screen will disable Developer Mode and restore the device to its factory state
